6 MDG Delivers Mandatory Vaccines

MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Airmen from the 6th Medical Group began redistributing doses of the COVID-19 vaccine at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, on Sept. 9, 2021. This comes after the Secretary of Defense issued a memorandum on Aug. 23, 2021, mandating all active duty personnel to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

6th MDG advancing medical readiness training with augmented reality

Manikin-based training is currently the mainstay of military medical readiness training, however, the COVID-19 pandemic revealed some limitations to large-scale in-person training during times of social distancing. The introduction of augmented reality training increases the availability of training, without a need to increase manpower availability for training setup and multiple student face-to-face interaction.

Roth praises Air Force contributions to mass vaccination center in Florida, others nationwide

The vaccination facility, which is designed to administer 3,000 shots a day (though it hit 5,636 shots in a single day earlier this month), is under the control of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the state of Florida. However, a staff of 139 active duty Airmen from 25 bases across 22 states make up the operational engine providing vaccinations from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.

MacDill Public Service Announcement: COVID-19 Vaccinations on MacDill

The 6th Medical Group has received a limited number of COVID-19 vaccines. The vaccines will be administered in a phased approach in accordance with DoD guidelines. Phase 1 includes medical personnel, security forces, fire department and other first responders. For a detailed listing of those members in each phase, please see the DoD’s Population Schema.
