The 6th Medical Group is located at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, and provides medical care, and health and wellness services to a population of more than 215,000 Department of Defense beneficiaries throughout the greater Tampa Bay area.
The 6th Medical Group is fully accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, most recently receiving 3-year accreditation in 2015. The AAAHC is a professional civilian accrediting body, which conducts periodic inspections of civilian and military health care facilities to ensure medical care and services rendered meet or exceed national standards. Accreditation assures you that the staff of this facility adheres to the highest standards of medical care and administration.
The 6th Aerospace Medicine Squadron provides flight & operational medicine, health promotion, bioenvironmental engineering, public health, and optometry for the 6 AMW/ USCENTCOM/ USSOCOM/ 36 partner units & representatives from 51 coalition nations. Maximizes medical readiness for 10K AD Airmen, Marines, Soldiers & Sailors. Ensures pre/post-deployment surveillance, screenings, community health programs & employee occupational health exams for 215K beneficiaries.
The 6th Dental Squadron ensures maximum peacetime/contingency readiness by providing optimal comprehensive dental care to 10K AD Airmen, Marines, Soldiers & Sailors. Generates $6.8M in preventive, routine, emergency & specialty care for 6 AMW/ USCENTCOM/ USSOCOM & 36 partner units. Supports global mission with 24K patient visits & 69K clinical/lab procedures annually. Provides liaison support to St. Petersburg AF dental hygiene students.
The 6th Medical Squadron delivers 155K evidenced-based family health, mental health, & specialty care visits. Executes 2.2K surgical procedures per year for 10K AD personnel assigned to 6 AMW/ 927 ARW/ 2 COCOMs/ 35 partner units & representatives from 51 coalition nations. Optimizes patient-centered care to 40K enrollees in DoD's largest single-unit catchment area. Supports 215K beneficiaries at 2 MTFs and 5 partner hospitals.
The 6th Medical Support Squadron enables combat capability of 6 AMW/ USCENTCOM/ USSOCOM/ 36 partner units delivering medical logistics, lab, pharmacy, diagnostic imaging, patient administrative services for 215K beneficiaries in DoD’s largest single-unit catchment area. In addition, 6 MDSS supports a hub-n-spoke relationship with other MTFs providing tele-radiology for 8 bases featuring 118K enrollees. Maintains posture of 405 UTC positions & leads business efforts producing 155K clinical visits, 300K procedures, 652K prescriptions per year.
