Influenza Vaccine Update

Flu season is upon us. We are concerned about your health and encourage everyone to get vaccinated annually against influenza.

It’s critical that everyone who is able receives a flu vaccine. It’s essential that active duty service members, active duty family members and other beneficiaries are well-protected from influenza.

Please see the guidance below for getting the flu vaccine here at MacDill AFB.

Active Duty Service Members (ADSMs):

Active duty and Guard/Reserve members are required to get the flu vaccine.

At this time, the 6th Medical Group does not have flu vaccines for Active Duty members. The estimated time of arrival is currently unknown. Further announcements will be made when the flu vaccine is available at the 6 MDG for ADSMs.

ADSMs may utilize civilian pharmacies to obtain flu vaccinations without a referral. Please use the Pharmacy Finder to locate a participating pharmacy near you.
  • Some pharmacies on the list may have an on-site clinic that offers flu vaccines. Be sure to get your vaccine from the pharmacist, not from a health provider, to avoid possible out-of-pocket costs.
  • Before you visit the pharmacy, call them to verify their current vaccination schedule, availability and any age restrictions. Phone numbers are available through our Find a Pharmacy feature.
  • Be sure to present your military ID at the time of service.
When you get a flu vaccine from anywhere besides the 6th Medical Group, ASIMS/IMR will be automatically updated. However it is recommended to retain vaccine information if something is incorrect. You'll need the following information:
  • The date the vaccine was given
  • The vaccine name or code
  • Manufacturer
  • Lot number
