Medical Records & Release of Information

Permanent Change of Station

Please provide a copy of orders to your losing base so they’ll mail your record to MacDill. All medical records are mailed to gaining location with few hand carry exceptions; bring records to the Medical Records office upon your arrival.

Separation/Retirement

Please provide a copy of your orders. Records will be mailed to the respective service branch’s archiving center. Request a copy of your records at least 30 days prior to separation/retirement. Copy requests will not be expedited for VA exams.

Exception

ONLY Marine Corps members are authorized to hand carry medical records to their final out appointment.
