Laboratory & Radiology
Laboratory
Who We Serve
Both laboratories serve active duty service members and all patients empaneled to the MacDill Clinic or Sabal Park Clinic.
Mission
Lab tests are ordered by providers only. Currently both MacDill and Sabal Park laboratories only accept lab requests ordered by 6th MDG providers.
Laboratory reports will be available to view and print in the
MHS GENESIS Patient Portal once testing is completed.
If you have an order for a one-, two-, or three-hour oral glucose tolerance test, please visit or call the lab to receive instructions and schedule your appointment. This test is performed only at the MacDill laboratory.
Some lab tests require the patient to fast. Fasting means having nothing to eat or drink (except water) for eight to 12 hours before blood collection. The provider's orders should specify whether fasting is required. Unless the provider gives other instructions, patients should continue taking their medications, as prescribed, before having blood drawn.
Diagnostic Imaging (Radiology)
We offer a full range of imaging services to include routine X-ray, bone density, ultrasound, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT). Routine X-rays do not require an appointment and are performed during normal duty hours. Specialty imaging procedures may require patient preparation or an appointment.
To schedule an appointment, call, visit or send a message via the MHS Genesis Patient Portal. Some examinations can be performed on a walk-in basis, depending on availability and if no patient preparation is necessary. Please note that these examinations must be coordinated with the Diagnostic Imaging staff and reviewed by our radiologist prior to approval. Diagnostic Imaging honors routine requests (scripts) within our imaging capabilities from civilian providers.
